Already decided on Storyblok?
This page helps you evaluate it. Need a partner to implement Storyblok, or migrate onto it from a legacy CMS? See our Headless CMS agency services. Storyblok is a Bejamas partner.
What Storyblok is
Storyblok is a headless CMS whose defining feature is the visual editor: editors compose pages from developer-defined components (“bloks”) and see their changes rendered on the actual front end, in context, before publishing. Developers keep a clean component API (the content model stays structured and delivery stays headless) while marketers get the click-and-edit experience they’d otherwise lose when leaving a monolithic CMS.
That split is the whole pitch: headless architecture without the editorial regression. For teams migrating off a legacy CMS, it’s often the difference between marketing championing the replatform and marketing resisting it.
The European angle
Storyblok is Vienna-based with EU data residency. For the European organizations we work with, that is not a footnote. Data-processing agreements, GDPR posture, and procurement reviews all get simpler when the vendor is headquartered in the EU and the content stays there. If your legal team has ever stalled a US-vendor contract over transfer mechanisms, this is the shortlist entry that skips that conversation.
Editor & developer experience
Editors work in the visual editor with real-time preview, assemble pages from approved bloks, and manage large estates through folder-based structure. Folders carry permissions and settings, which is how multi-brand and multi-locale governance actually stays manageable. Localization is first-class, with field- and folder-level translation workflows, and the app store adds workflow extensions like releases, scheduling, and backups.
Developers define bloks as a typed component schema, consume content over the Content Delivery API (REST or GraphQL), and keep the front end fully theirs: any framework, any host. The discipline required: the component library is the contract, so it needs the same care as a design system. A sloppy blok library produces a sloppy editing experience.
Where it earns the shortlist
The upper tiers carry the requirements that governance and procurement reviews ask for: SSO, custom roles and approval workflows, fine-grained access control, uptime SLAs, and backup options, on top of the folder-level permissions that keep multi-brand, multi-market estates governable day to day. Combined with EU residency, that makes Storyblok one of the easier headless platforms to take through a European compliance review.
When teams choose it, and when they don’t

Pricing, in plain terms
Seat-based tiers: a free starter plan for evaluation, paid team tiers starting around €100/month that grow with seats and traffic, and custom upper tiers that add SSO, custom roles and workflows, release management, and stronger uptime SLAs. The growth drivers to model are seats and traffic. Note that some workflow apps are gated to specific plans, so check the tier matrix against the features your editors actually need before committing.
The Bejamas take
Storyblok is our recommendation when the deciding factor is the marketing team: they need to edit pages in context, ship campaigns without a ticket queue, and govern a multi-locale estate. The EU residency story closes the procurement loop for European organizations. As a Storyblok partner we’ve implemented it in production, so the recommendation comes from real engagements.
In an audit we’ll model your content structure, editing needs, and compliance requirements against Storyblok, Sanity, and Contentful (see Contentful vs Storyblok for the head-to-head), and say plainly which fits your rebuild. Then, if it’s Storyblok, we implement it.
